disfigurement

we experienced a terrible tragedy last night. one of the men was carrying a vat of acid we didn't need anymore. "old ugly as sin" charley, as the other men call him, was on his way to dump it overboard when he lost his balance and stuck his face right in. i think we need to have more safety seminars. this is the kind of thing you hate to see happen on a ship. now charley looks like a hideous monster. much worse than before. and just a week before retirement.
