a dreadful episode

a terrible thing happened early this morning. it was this: a whale escaped and took one of the large safes with him. there was probably $350 in it. i have never heard of such an occurence in all my days of being a seaman (about 36 days). i can only hope this incident does not incite additional acts of pilferousness by these brobdingnagian captives.
on a more chearful note, we had a wine tasting. the most pleasing one for me was a smokey, full-bodied merlot that i had mixed with applesauce.
